Our operation

Systems for airport operations

Modern airports depend on a wide range of technology systems to handle passengers, aircraft, baggage, cargo and apron operations safely and efficiently. Airport & Port Services LATAM brings specialized technical expertise in the main systems that make up an airport’s operational infrastructure.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Our answers to what operators, concessionaires and integrators ask us about the maintenance, supply and modernization of critical infrastructure.

Let’s talk about your project
  • APS LATAM offers maintenance, technical assistance, modernization, equipment supply and consulting for airport and port systems. We work with Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB), 400 Hz Ground Power Units (GPU), Pre-Conditioned Air units (PCA), Visual Docking Guidance Systems (VDGS), Ground Support Equipment (GSE), Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) and other infrastructure critical to the operation.

  • Yes. APS LATAM plays a key role in the design, sizing, transport, installation, commissioning, handover and maintenance of the equipment. Our involvement in many large projects across Latin America bears this out, delivering the agreed scope safely and efficiently so the equipment is handed over turnkey and can be put to work in the airport’s operation without delay.

  • Yes. We supply spare parts for older airport systems, including original components, functional equivalents and solutions for technologically obsolete equipment. We also carry out technical studies to identify compatible alternatives that keep existing assets operating safely and efficiently.

  • High-quality preventive maintenance, sized in scope and method to the characteristics of each piece of equipment, makes it possible to identify and correct potential failures before they affect the operation, reducing downtime, repair costs and operational risk. It also helps extend equipment service life, improve reliability and ensure the continuity of airport operations. As a specialized company, we develop preventive maintenance programs tailored to the needs of each installation, taking into account the manufacturer, operational criticality, age, frequency of use and other variables that matter for operational continuity.

  • If an airport has recurring failures in boarding bridges, 400 Hz GPU, PCA or VDGS, the right step is a root-cause analysis rather than one-off fixes. Recurring failures often point to weak preventive maintenance, as well as faults in components, sensors, adjustments, software or operation. Together with you and your team, we can review history, reports, alarms and operating conditions to propose actions that improve your preventive maintenance plan, and others that reduce failure frequency, unavailability and operational risk.

  • Yes. Airport maintenance can be planned to minimize operational impact through work windows, coordination with operations, technical sequencing, functional testing and prioritization of critical assets. Although many interventions require the equipment to be briefly unavailable, proper planning reduces downtime and prolonged service interruptions. At APS LATAM we design interventions that maintain the airport’s safety, availability and operational continuity.

  • Reducing corrective maintenance at an airport means strengthening a few things: preventive maintenance, correcting deviations before they escalate, analyzing recurring failures, identifying the elements with the greatest impact on the operation and improving the availability of critical spare parts. Operational availability improves when failure data is turned into concrete technical actions. We can help you move from a reactive strategy to preventive, planned management.

  • Modernizing airport systems improves and strengthens your equipment without civil works or full replacement. This increases safety, reliability and operational efficiency, and reduces downtime in the event of stoppages. It also helps lower maintenance costs, extend asset service life, meet regulatory requirements and adapt the infrastructure to the airport’s current and future needs. APS LATAM delivers modernization projects designed to maximize performance and operational availability.

  • Technological obsolescence in airport equipment can create risks to safety and availability, incompatibility with other systems, a lack of spare parts, poor traceability and longer repair times. In critical assets such as PBB, GPU, PCA, VDGS, GSE or BHS, obsolescence can affect operational performance and the ability to meet new technical requirements. At APS LATAM we help you evaluate upgrade, modernization, refurbishment or replacement options based on the real condition of the asset.

  • Whether to repair or replace equipment depends on factors such as its technical condition, spare-part availability, repair costs, regulatory compliance and remaining service life. APS LATAM specializes in inspections, diagnostics and feasibility studies that help airport operators make technically sound, safe and cost-optimized decisions.

  • It is worth requesting a technical assessment of airport equipment when abnormal noises, intermittent alarms, irregular movements, recurring failures or slower response times appear, even if the asset is still in service. At an airport, a minor warning sign can anticipate a critical failure in boarding bridges, 400 Hz GPU, PCA, VDGS or other systems. As a strategic partner, we can help you diagnose early risks and propose actions before they affect your airport’s operational continuity.
